| Austin Roller Moms |
Profile : 44 year old introvert Scorpio. I love to
skate and this roller derby sport has brought out
the competitive side of me I never thought that I
had. I graduated from UT in geology in the 80’s,
loved Austin so much (Oh! The music) that I took a
low paying job and have been here ever since. I
have seen a lot of change in the past 25 years, but
having roller derby re-invented in Austin is the best.
I took a break from computer programming to raise
a kid. My husband and I decided we had done
about everything else –why not a different kind of
adventure. Ian is 5 years old now and he gives me
a thumbs-up and says, “Roller moms – cool!”
Likes : Watching my 5-year old grow, live music, creative vegetarian foods and red wine.
Dislikes : war-mongers
What you wouldn't guess about me : I rode with
the urban animals and I have a purple belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Award/Good Behavior: Best Whip. My husband says that all that practice at home finally paid off.
Favorite derby move : the whip, of course
